Rock legends KISS are planning to unveil brand new songs as part of their exciting upcoming avatar-based show. Gene Simmons, a co-founder of the band, confirmed that new music has been written for this innovative virtual experience.
The digital version of KISS, which first appeared at the end of the band's farewell tour in December 2023, is set to make its full debut in Las Vegas in 2028. This groundbreaking project involves top-tier companies. Industrial Light & Magic, a visual effects company founded by George Lucas, will create the highly detailed virtual band members, known as avatars. Pophouse Entertainment, the Swedish company behind the popular ABBA Voyage hologram show, is spearheading the entire production.
Fans can look forward to seeing KISS's most iconic characters, such as the Demon and the Starchild, brought to life digitally. Paul Stanley, another co-leader of KISS, shared that the show will feature all the classic hits fans love, along with some surprises and the newly written songs. Simmons highlighted that these new tracks are "written by us."
Pophouse CEO Jessica Koravos described the show as a "crazy 4D roller coaster ride" that will take audiences through KISS's greatest hits, comic book worlds, and famous personas. Stanley emphasized that this isn't like older, simpler hologram attempts; these will be realistic virtual versions, allowing the band to "stay young forever." Simmons himself believes it will be more than just a show, calling it an immersive "experience" that will engage all senses.
Both Simmons and Stanley view this as a thrilling new chapter for KISS. Simmons stated that this is "not the end of anything," but rather a "beginning," like a butterfly emerging from its cocoon, ready to soar to new heights.
