A side curtain caught fire during an Evanescence concert on Friday, June 12, at the MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa, Florida. The incident occurred nine songs into the set while the band was performing "Calm Down," a track from their recently released sixth studio album, Sanctuary.
The fire was sparked by a pyrotechnics display on the right side of the stage, which ignited the curtains and a portion of the stagework. A stagehand reacted quickly, using what appeared to be a water bottle to extinguish the flames within seconds. Because the response was so efficient, the band did not have to interrupt the performance, and many audience members were completely unaware that a mishap had occurred.
The Tampa stop is part of the band's 2026 North American tour, which began on June 11 in West Palm Beach and will continue through August 2. The group is scheduled to travel to Europe in September and October before returning to the U.S. for a final, special performance at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado on October 26. The tour features a rotation of opening acts, including Spiritbox, Nova Twins, Poppy, and K.Flay.
Beyond the music, Evanescence is using the tour for philanthropy. Through a partnership with PLUS1, the band is donating $1 from every ticket sold to organizations providing global humanitarian aid and medical relief.
Frontwoman Amy Lee has described this production as the "biggest show" the band has ever staged. Lee stated that her goal is to create a "Sanctuary" world for the fans, combining nearly the entire new album with a variety of classic hits. Despite the hectic nature of the tour, Lee noted that she is inspired to create a unique, gorgeous experience intended to make the audience happy.
