Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Unveils Diverse 2026 Nominees

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has unveiled its extensive list of nominees for the 2026 induction class, featuring a dynamic mix of first-time contenders and returning stalwarts. Seventeen acts are vying for the prestigious honor, reflecting the institution's commitment to recognizing the broad spectrum of rock and roll's influence.

Among the ten artists making their debut on the ballot are acclaimed drummer Phil Collins, Australian rock band INXS, singer-songwriter Melissa Etheridge, and the iconic late musician Jeff Buckley. Hip-hop heavyweights Wu-Tang Clan and Lauryn Hill also receive their first nominations, alongside R&B legends New Edition and Luther Vandross, and pop superstars Pink and Shakira.

Several familiar names are back on the ballot, with The Black Crowes and Billy Idol nominated for a second consecutive year. Iron Maiden, Oasis, and Joy Division/New Order each appear for a third time, while Mariah Carey also earns her third nomination, and Sade her second. Notably, Phil Collins is the sole potential two-time inductee, having previously been inducted with Genesis in 2010.

The selection process involves a vote by the Rock Hall's distinguished body of 1,200 artists, journalists, historians, and industry professionals. Fans also have a voice through a public vote available on rockhall.com, and at the museum in Cleveland, with their collective input forming one additional ballot.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation Chairman John Sykes emphasized the nominees' collective impact, stating, "The diverse list of talented nominees recognizes the ever-evolving faces and sounds of Rock & Roll and its continued impact on youth culture."

Performer inductees for 2026 are anticipated to be announced in April, with the induction ceremony scheduled for the fall. Artists become eligible for nomination 25 years after their first commercial recording, a criterion met by Shakira, whose debut album Magia was released in 1991.

The announcement also highlighted ongoing projects for several nominees, including new documentaries for Billy Idol and Iron Maiden, and upcoming albums from The Black Crowes and Melissa Etheridge.
